Ένα από τα σημαντικότερα μνημεία της παγκόσμιας πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς και ένα μουσείο-σύμβολο πλέον για τη χώρα μας, σε μια εξαίρετη έκδοση, με αναλυτικά κείμενα και πλούσιο φωτογραφικό υλικό, που στόχο έχει να εισάγει τον αναγνώστη στο γοητευτικό κόσμο της αρχαίας Ακρόπολης. Το νέο αυτό βιβλίο της Εκδοτικής Αθηνών, ενός εκδοτικού οίκου με μακρά παράδοση στο χώρο των ποιοτικών ιστορικών και αρχαιολογικών εκδόσεων, υπογράφεται από την αρχαιολόγο και συγγραφέα Κατερίνα Σέρβη και απευθύνεται σε γνώστες αλλά και μη γνώστες, σε όλους όσοι θέλουν να μυηθούν στα μυστικά του πανάρχαιου αθηναϊκού ιερού βράχου και των μνημείων του.

Acropolis: Visiting its Museum and its Monuments, outcome of assiduous research based on the most recent scientific findings, aims to be a friendly and useful travel companion. Its descriptions and interpretative analyses help us to see the monuments in a different way and to understand the historical, artistic and political events that contributed to their creation. Through the texts and the illustrations we get to know the gods and heroes who were worshipped on the Acropolis, the leaders who envisaged the major projects, the artists who brought them to fruition, as well as the innovative ideas they applied and the Athenian citizens who admired and enjoyed these achievements. Dieser kurzgefasste Fuhrer bietet eine Einfuhrung in die Sammlungen des Archaologischen Nationalmuseums, die in ihrer Reichhaltigkeit und Vielfalt die Kunst und Kultur der antiken Welt zu lebendiger Anschauung bringen.

In den von den Mitarbeitern des Museums verfasstenTexten wird jeweils der allgemeine kulturelle und entwicklungsgeschichtliche Zusammenhang erlautert, in dem die Exponate stehen. Parallel dazu werden in zahlreichen Abbildungen reprasentative Werke der jeweiligen Sammlung vorgestellt, die den kunstlerischen Wert und die Qualitat der Exponate des grossten griechischen Museums dokumentieren.

Nell’anno 1828, mentre in Grecia è scoppiata la guerra d’indipendenza contro il dominio ottomano, il Mar Egeo è percorso da navi russe, francesi e inglesi venute in soccorso dei combattenti per la libertà. Accanto a loro, al confine talvolta labile tra eroismo e tornaconto personale, solcano le onde dell’antico mare flotte di avventurieri di varia natura, alla ricerca di arricchimento e di gloria. Il più temibile è Gheorghitsis Barrùs, il pirata dell’isola-fortezza di Garabusa, nella Creta settentrionale, che dopo aver affondato un bastimento olandese e aver rapito la dolce Chrisò, va incontro al suo destino pagando il fio delle sue nefandezze. Amore, tradimenti, battaglie navali, sacrifici e atti di eroismo compongono il mosaico di una narrazione vigorosa che costituisce una delle vette della narrativa greca di mare e di avventure. Il libro comprende anche il racconto «A Cipro, a Famagosta!» ambientato nella Cipro del generale Marco Antonio Bragadin.

La senectud ha existido desde que el hombre existe; pero, a diferencia de lo que ocurría en tiempos de Cicerón, nuestras sociedades han perdido la capacidad de pensar en la vejez sin asociarla a la decrepitud. En esta carta sin respuesta, Pedro Olalla entabla un vívido diálogo con un pensador de la Antigüedad tan comprometido con el destino de su comunidad como él y, con ello, prueba hasta qué punto el paso del tiempo no siempre significa decadencia.

Gli oggetti scelti sono commentati da esperti che cercano di ricollocarli nel loro contesto storico e culturale. A todos los que nos quieran acompañar el viernes 9 de Octubre a las 19,30hs se presenta el libro "Diáspora Griega en América" un hermoso texto que colecta emocionantes historias, anécdotas y vivencias Helénicas en Argentina y todo el continente Americano. Particularmente estaré recordando a mi bisabuelo cuya memoria quedó inmortalizada en uno de los capítulos... Será hermoso compartirlo con todos ustedes!
