Following the Axis invasion of Greece, the Nazis began persecuting the country’s Jews much as they had across the rest of occupied Europe, beginning with small indignities and culminating in mass imprisonment and deportations. Among the many Jews confined to the Thessaloniki ghetto during this period were Sarina Saltiel, Mathilde Barouh, and Neama Cazes—three women bound for Auschwitz who spent the weeks before their deportation writing to their sons. Do Not Forget Me brings together these remarkable pieces of correspondence, shocking accounts of life in the ghetto with an emotional intensity rare even by the standards of Holocaust testimony.

This book is an introduction into the fascinating world of dolphins and whales of the Greek Seas as well as an identification and field guide. It includes information on the classification, evolution and adaptations, ecology, intelligence and behavior of these amazing sea mammals. It also provides information on their geographical distribution, on how to find, study and identify dolphins and whales that are regularly observed in Greek waters. It is the result of 12 years of field research, experiences and adventures. An account of our first enthralling close encounter with the Striped Dolphins and the sighting of a Fin Whale at Korinthiakos Gulf, of our fieldwork with the Bottlenose Dolphins of Amvrakikos and North Evoikos Gulfs, of our observations with the endangered Common Dolphins of the inland sea between the Island of Lefkas and the Greek mainland, the Orei Channel and the Sporades islands. The book includes photographs taken during our field-work and illustrations of dolphin and whale species, drawn by us based on our personal observations and on representative photographs taken during our work.

In 2009, Patrick Leigh Fermor's Spanish-language translator, Dolores Payás, visited the writer in his Greek home for the first time. By this time he was well advanced in years. Even so he received her with open arms and made her feel at home. A friendship sprung, other visits followed. The legendary adventurer and man of letters sat his translator at his table, stuffing her with food, drink and words (particularly drink and words). In short, he granted her access into his universe. It was a huge and generous gesture, one of those which cannot be forgotten. Gratitude is an active feeling, something had to be done. Out of this emerged Drink Time!, a homage, a token of thanks and a love letter at the same time. This little book is a charming, personal and moving portrait of Patrick Leigh Fermor during his final years. It depicts the author, but also a man full of humanity and charm, of tolerance and affection.

Living at the foot of Mount Helicon in Boeotia, sometime in the middle of the 8th century B.C., Hesiod is the oldest poet of the ancient Greek world, along with Homer. He is considered as the founder of Greek theological thought and he is the first to have introduced moral concepts, such as hope, justice, and hubris, in his poetry. His epic poems were influenced by the oral Ionic tradition of dactylic hexameters. Only three survive intact and others in fragments. Hesiod’s oldest poem, Theogony, narrates the creation of the world and of the gods, coming from the Night, the Sea and the union of Earth with Uranus. Works and Days is a hymn to Zeus, the powerful and just father of the Olympians. The third work, usually attributed to Hesiod, is The shield of Hercules, narrating the battle of Hercules and Cycnus, and describing the shield of the Theban hero.

The remote, uninhabited island of Falconera almost half way between Athens and Crete is the focus of daring exploits in the last months of World War II. The author wrote what he lived. On one level, this book is a gripping romance and a suspense-filled tale of action. It also is a fount of information about the Aegean, sailing in the Aegean, and Greek sailing lore.
